Dear colleagues,

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCSD has an open tenure track faculty position for candidates with research interests in materials and solid-state NMR. You can find more information below and at the application website:

https://apol-recruit.ucsd.edu/JPF02983

Application review will begin on December 15th.

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry within the Division of Physical Sciences at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates with research interests in quantum and/or energy materials and/or solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a strong record of research accomplishment, an innovative research plan, and a demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching. All positions are subject to availability of funding.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field prior to the start of appointment and demonstrated potential for a recognized program of excellence in both teaching and research. In addition, successful candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion in higher education. A successful candidate should have a well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase the access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences. We welcome candidates who have already participated in, contributed to, or created such programs, and can articulate how these activities helped shape their plan. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to helping shape and expand the University’s diversity initiatives (http://diversity.ucsd.edu/). Candidates are encouraged to discuss prior experience as a role model, mentor, advocate, or inclusive leader in the education and/or research domains, and applications should include a statement describing past and/or potential contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion (see http://physicalsciences.ucsd.edu/faculty/contributions-to-diversity-statements.html.)

Teaching in general chemistry, materials chemistry, and related topics will be expected. The candidate should have skills and interest in teaching lab and lecture courses at both the graduate and the undergraduate levels.
