Position Summary:

UDRI invites qualified candidates to apply for our Staff NMR Chemist opening! The primary position responsibilities includes leading the development of solid-state material science research utilizing a 400mHz solid-state NMR spectrometer equipped with a Klystron dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP); representing one of the first of its kind to be installed in the United States. This position will work autonomously for full development of MAS-NMR and DPN methods and experimentation while also being responsible to maintain the instrument on a regular basis. This position will also work closely with other scientists and engineers investigating materials for various applications with primary focus on commercial and novel heterogeneous catalysts and metal oxide materials. Individual must be a U.S. Citizen and capable of securing a satisfactory National Agency Check with Inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications:
R2 minimum qualifications:
- An advanced degree (Ph.D.) in Chemistry or related relevant field (Chemical Engineering, Material Science, etc…) with direct experience in solid-state NMR Experience in operation, maintenance, and method development of solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
- A minimum of three years of directly related experience is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Individual must be a U.S. Citizen and capable of securing a satisfactory National Agency Check with Inquiries.
R3 minimum qualifications:
- An R3 must meet all R2 minimum qualifications in addition to the qualifications listed below.
- A minimum of 8 years directly related experience as described above is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- Experience with SS-NMR using DNP/SENS
- Experience with single, double, and triple resonance MAS-NMR
- Demonstrated research skills through journal publication(s) in SS-NMR of heterogeneous catalysts and/or metal oxide materials.
