Dear Colleagues,
There is an excellent postdoctoral opportunity with Stephen Blundell at Oxford Physics developing muon spin resonance with NMR/ESR pulse sequences. If you’re passionate about hardware development please consider applying:

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in controlling muon states with NMR and ESR pulses
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in controlling muon states with NMR and ESR pulses. The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration until 31st October 2027. The aim of the project is to address important problems in muon spectroscopy. NMR and ESR pulse sequences will be combined with muon spectroscopy in order to control the coupled spin states that arise when muons are implanted in condensed matter systems. The experimental techniques that will be developed in this project will then be applied to the problem of determining the origin of the persistent spin dynamics that has been observed in numerous spin liquids and frustrated magnets at low temperature.
The successful candidate will design, construct and test NMR and ESR probes that will be used in muon spectroscopy experiments and will be an active participant in an experimental programme based on these new techniques. The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach. Applicants should hold a PhD, or be close to completion in physics or a related field and have a strong background in magnetic resonance. Please direct enquiries about the role to Professor Stephen Blundell. Email: stephen.blundell@physics.ox.ac.uk Only applications received before midday (UK time) 31st March 2023 can be considered. You will be required to upload a statement of research interests, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
