Dear colleagues,

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UC San Diego invites applications for an NMR Research and Development Engineer to join our world class NMR Facilities. Altogether, our facilities provide access to 13 NMR and EPR spectrometers and serve a large community of magnetic resonance users both from academia and industry in the larger San Diego area. For this position, the staff scientist will oversee the operations and maintenance of five Bruker solid-state NMR spectrometers and Bruker/Phoenix probes, provide assistance with experiments and data analysis, collaborate with the groups of G. Debelouchina (biological solid-state NMR) and K. Griffith (materials), and support a growing community of solid-state NMR users. The staff scientist will also work closely with two other staff scientists who have extensive experience in managing the NMR facilities. Our solid-state NMR instruments range from 400 MHz to 900 MHz, and include a 600 MHz DNP NMR spectrometer. The candidate should have a PhD level of education/experience in Chemistry or a related field and expertise in solid-state NMR spectroscopy methodology development, instrumentation, pulse programming, and applications. The position also requires willingness to learn new techniques (e.g. DNP) and applications, and the ability to maintain and repair NMR instrumentation.

The start date for this position is November 1st, 2023. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled and can be submitted here:
