Wayne L. Hubbell reached the milestone of 80 birthdays this past spring, and I have been asked to provide a summary of his impact on EPR spectroscopy to honor this occasion. As many of you are aware, Wayne’s contributions to EPR are numerous, highly creative, and involve novel methodologies that have dramatically expanded the power and toolset that are available to study macromolecules. The following description is not exhaustive but describes a number of his contributions to EPR as well as a summary of the impact of his work on our molecular understanding of membranes, membrane proteins, and most notably the molecular function of G-protein coupled receptors.
