Overview: The Siemer lab (siemerlab.usc.edu) at USC is looking for a postdoc with a background in NMR spectroscopy and knowledge of protein biochemical techniques. We study intrinsic protein disorder in the context amyloid fibrils using solid-state NMR, EPR, and MD simulations.
Current projects: We work on amyloid fibrils important in neurodegenerative diseases and specific chaperones that interact with these fibrils.
Environment: The Siemer lab is part of the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute a modern research facility located at the health science campus of USC, close to downtown Los Angeles. USC is a very collaborative environment and we have long running collaborations with labs at USC as well as labs in North America and Europe. The base salary for this position is $70,000.
Requirements: The candidate should have a Ph.D. and a solid understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of NMR spectroscopy. Additional experience in protein production and work with amyloid fibrils is preferred.
How to apply: The position is available immediately. Interested candidates should email a cover letter and a CV that includes the names of three references to asiemer@usc.edu. Please feel free to contact me (asiemer@usc.edu) if you have any questions about the position.
