Lab Manager - NMR spectroscopist or MR physicist
Center for Hyperpolarization in Magnetic Resonance (HYPERMAG), Department of Health Technology, Technical University of Denmark, has an open position as lab manager for our NMR and Hyperpolarization lab. The Center for Hyperpolarized Magnetic Resonance (www.hypermag.dtu.dk) was recently funded by the Danish National Research Foundation with the mission of addressing basic scientific questions of hyperpolarization by Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) to enable new applications of Magnetic Resonance in the study of biochemical reactions in real-time in vivo and in vitro. The group has high-resolution NMR systems of various types (e.g. Agilent, RS2D and Magritek), several polarizers (home-built and Hypersense), a cell lab, chemistry lab and electronics labs. We are 20-25 researchers and support staff.
HYPERMAG is part of the Center for Magnetic Resonance (www.cmr.healthtech.dtu.dk) that conducts research in MRI and NMR. Our research is conducted in collaboration with universities, hospitals and healthcare companies both nationally and internationally. Our main educational responsibility is within the BSc and MSc program in BioMedical Engineering in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
The job
Your main responsibility will be to manage the NMR laboratory and related equipment. This means:
- maintain NMR spectrometers, instrumentation and other infrastructure
- Develop and provide NMR training to group members as needed.
- Helium filling of superconducting magnets.
- Develop and implement new NMR experiments and hardware, and provide documentation for users.
- Data analysis and presentation of results for users.
- Supervision of and assistance to internal users and students.
- Supporting the research on hyperpolarization in collaboration with colleagues and external collaborators.
You will also contribute to the common research goals of the Center. Since hyperpolarization is a complex method that requires interdisciplinary skills, the conducted research at HYPERMAG is a team effort. The position may involve research-based teaching including guidance of postdocs and PhD students. The candidate is expected to be service-minded, show team spirit and contribute to a good work atmosphere.
Our expectations of you
Candidates must
· hold a MSc degree (or equivalent).
· have a background in natural science.
· have a broad general knowledge of NMR and fundamental understanding of the application of NMR to chemical and biological systems.
We expect that you are motivated, dedicated, and friendly and has a good sense of humour. We are an international, multicultural institution, and we expect that you have strong social competences and can work as a team player.
What we offer in return
A full time, permanent position. We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international atmosphere with the focus on research, teaching, innovation and scientific advice for the benefit of the surrounding community. We place emphasis on a high level of professionalism among our staff, so skills development is an integral part of our organization. We offer a great flexibility in the position. In the area of technical and natural sciences, DTU is one of the leading research and education institutions in Europe.
