A research assistant/staff scientist position is available in the group of Michal Leskes at the Department of Materials and Interfaces, Weizmann Institute of science, Israel.

The position involves: (i) Managing and running research projects within our research framework (described below and on our website) and (ii) taking a major part in guiding and training graduate students as well as managing our DNP-NMR lab.

Research in our group is focused on developing and using MAS-DNP and solid state NMR methods for materials science applications. A central topic is the development of endogenous DNP based on paramagnetic metal ion dopants in inorganic systems.

The position is available initially for 5 years supported by ERC funding, with an option to transfer to a tenure track position (staff scientist), depending on the qualifications and performance in the first two years.

Candidates should have a PhD in Chemistry/Physics/Engineering with proven hands-on experience in magnetic resonance. Postdoctoral experience or equivalent is an advantage. Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work in a research team are required.

Our lab is equipped with a Bruker 400MHz MAS-DNP spectrometer with LT-MAS DNP probes, as well as a wide range of MAS and static solids NMR probes. In addition to our lab dedicated equipment, extensive NMR and EPR systems are available on campus as part of our research support facilities – these include 400, 500 and 800MHz NMR spectrometers equipped with MAS systems and X and Q band pulse and CW EPR systems.

The Weizmann Institute is located in a small, affordable and friendly town, 25 minutes from Tel Aviv and 45 minutes from Jerusalem, and is one of Israel’s premier scientific institutions. It is a research centre where the official language is English, and which offers numerous facilities to international visitors.

For additional information and application please contact Dr. Michal Leskes by email at michal.leskes@weizamnn.ac.il.

Applications should include CV, list of publications and contact details of at least two references.
